About The Cart Lodge

The Cart Lodge is a converted character barn in Hickling, Norfolk, set within the beautiful Norfolk Broads. This adults-only retreat sleeps two guests and dates back over 200 years. The property was updated in October 2022 and offers a perfect romantic escape.

Hickling sits in the heart of the Norfolk Broads National Park. You can fish at Hickling Broad or visit the sandy beaches at Sea Palling and Waxham, both just 3 miles away. Two local pubs serve food and craft beers within walking distance.

The ground floor features a super kingsize bedroom with a roll top bath and an ensuite shower room. Upstairs you'll find an open plan living space with a 32" smart TV, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher.

Wroxham (11 miles, 20 minutes) offers river trips and the Bure Valley Steam Railway. Cromer (21 miles, 35 minutes) has a promenade and pier. Norwich (21 miles, 30 minutes) features the cathedral, castle and museums. Horsey Windpump and National Trust properties including Blickling Hall are nearby.

The Cart Lodge is perfect for couples wanting a peaceful break. The private hot tub for four sits in an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture. Your dog is welcome too.

we absolutely loved this place and the area. We found the owners super helpful as they lived on site but not intrusive. Lots of unexpected extras which were much appreciated . Our dogs loved the local beaches and everything was set up for a dog friendly stay. We highly recommend.

Lovely place to stay, lots of little personal welcome touches. Comfortable bed and cool bedroom as the weather was hot. Location great for beaches and seal watching. Plenty of great pubs to eat and drink in.
